Workshop Curriculum
We offer workshops tailored to your science communication needs and interests. Our workshops are based on the same curriculum used in our winter seminar series. Workshops are structured to teach participants useful presentation tools and techniques through interactive activities. We can structure workshops to develop a specific product, such as an elevator pitch or a storyboard, or improve on an existing presentation.
Topics may include:
Distilling information & crafting analogies
Writing & delivering elevator pitches
Using jargon responsibly
Public speaking skills
Storytelling
Improv activities
Considering your audience
Fielding questions on the fly

Participant Feedback
“Awesome for networking! I’ve always really struggled with explaining my research to my family and these things helped!”
“Y’all are great. I really enjoyed the group activities.”
“I always really enjoy these workshops! This one was very useful and I thought all of the talking points were really unique and not ones I had heard before.”
“Practicing the difficult conversation setting was very valuable. I realized that I have only had difficult conversations about science in writing, where I had lots of time to think and edit my responses. It was hard not to just freeze up when strongly challenged in a one-on-one conversation.”
